Ahmed was born in 1984 in Kuwait, which is where he lived for most of his life. He always enjoyed watching his regular cartoons - Tom and Jerry was his favorite - but it wasn't long before he started to ignore the television and focus on books. In fact, it was during the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, during which time (at the age of 6) he had to flee the country with his parents for safety, that he started to focus on reading. Nose buried in a book, he was able to forget what was happening around him and submerge himself in the fantastic worlds of fiction and fantasy.
As he grew older, his only mission was to spread his love of reading to others.
June 5, 2017 marked a day that completely changed my life. The phone call I received in the early, early hours of the morning still haunts me to this day. My brother had passed away.
A few days before his unexpected departure, he had messaged me: 'Ayesha, the next time you come to Bangladesh, you need to help organize my stuff.'
Little did I know that I would be doing so without him.
I knew that he was an avid reader and a passionate collector, but even I was amazed at just how many books and comics he had. They were his prize possession.
It was with a heavy heart that I went through each book and had to decide what was to become of them, but I knew that as long as people were enjoying reading them, Ahmed would be happy.
As much as I believe in letting go, I still felt like I needed to keep a catalogue of his collection and his writing for myself ... and that's why I created this website.
Ayesha.
